Terms of use

Who we are, and these terms

RouteGenius is run by [your name or company, and registration number], [postal address]. Contact: routegeniusapp@gmail.com.

These terms apply when you use RouteGenius. By creating an account you accept them. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

The service

RouteGenius helps families plan road trips and keep track of what they spend: days and stops, bookings, lists, expenses and who owes whom, maps and driving routes, weather forecasts, and sharing a trip with others. Planning and adding expenses by hand are free. Premium plans add AI features: importing receipts and voice notes, planning a trip with AI, and converting pasted plans.

We work to keep RouteGenius available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features; if we stop a paid feature during your plan, we'll refund the part you couldn't use.

Your account

  • Accounts are for adults (18 or over). Children can be added to a trip by name.
  • Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
  • When you share a trip, the people you invite can see and change it. Only invite people you trust, and only add other people's names with their agreement.
  • You own what you put into RouteGenius. You let us store and process it only to run the service for you, as the privacy policy describes.

AI features: check before you rely on them

Some features use generative AI (Google Gemini): drafting a trip plan, converting a pasted plan, and reading receipts and voice notes. AI can be wrong. It can suggest places that don't exist or are closed, get opening hours, addresses, distances or prices wrong, misread amounts or currencies, or miss things entirely.

  • Everything the AI produces is a draft. Nothing is added to your trip or counted in your budget until you review and save it, and you are responsible for checking it before you do.
  • Check plans against official sources before you travel: opening hours, tickets, road and weather conditions, and whether a place suits your family.
  • AI output is information to help you plan, not professional travel, safety, legal or financial advice.

Maps, routes, weather and other outside information

  • Driving times and routes come from Google Maps and are estimates. Roads, closures and traffic change: follow road signs and the law, and drive with care. Never use the app in a way that distracts the driver.
  • Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo and are estimates, less reliable the further ahead they are.
  • Expense splitting is arithmetic to help you settle up; it is not accounting or tax advice, and you agree the amounts among yourselves.

Links to booking sites

The itinerary links to partners such as Booking.com and GetYourGuide, who may pay us a commission when you book (your price stays the same). A booking you make there is between you and that company, under its terms; we are not part of it and are not responsible for it.

Premium plans and payment

  • Trip pass: one payment for 30 days of Premium. It doesn't renew.
  • Yearly plan: renews automatically each year at the price shown when it renews, until you cancel. You can cancel the renewal any time on the Your account page; Premium then stays on until the end of the year you paid for.
  • Each plan includes a monthly number of AI uses, shown on the plans page. Unused ones don't carry over.
  • In Israel, PayPlus takes the payment and we issue the invoice. Elsewhere, Paddle sells the plan as our reseller and is the seller on your receipt; Paddle's buyer terms apply as well. Prices include the taxes the provider shows at checkout.
  • Deleting your account cancels a renewing plan first, so you are never charged again.

Cancelling and refunds

[Have a lawyer write this section. In Israel: the right to cancel a distance purchase under the Consumer Protection Law (generally within 14 days, with a cancellation fee of up to 5% or ₪100, whichever is lower), and how it applies to a plan already in use. Outside Israel: Paddle's refund policy and EU consumer rights for digital services.]

To ask for a refund, write to routegeniusapp@gmail.com or use “Card and invoices” on the Your account page.

Fair use

Don't use RouteGenius to:

  • break the law, or store content that infringes others' rights or is abusive;
  • upload files meant to manipulate the AI, or try to get around limits, quotas, payment or security;
  • access other people's data, or overload the service with scripts or automated requests;
  • copy, resell or build a competing service from RouteGenius.

We have daily limits on maps, weather and AI use so the service stays fair and affordable. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why when we can.

Responsibility

We are responsible for providing the service with reasonable care and skill, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law as a consumer, or our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited (for example for our own gross negligence or intent).

Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for: decisions you make relying on AI output, routes, weather or other information in the app without checking it; bookings with other companies; or losses we couldn't reasonably foresee. Where we are responsible for a loss, our responsibility is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it happened. [confirm with a lawyer]

Ending

You can stop using RouteGenius and delete your account any time on the Your data page; you can download your data first.

Changes, law and disputes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and the courts of [Tel Aviv-Jaffa] have jurisdiction, without taking away the protection of the consumer laws of the country you live in.
